With almost 25 Edmonton restaurant partners we create a unique experience with every food tour.
Edmonton’s vibrant food industry comes to life under the sun, so naturally patios are a mandatory part of every food tour. You might be able to taste a cheesemaker’s newest product, or see into the kitchen of a hot, up-and-coming restaurant or maybe take a tour of a keg room. Always something to learn and lots to eat and drink.

Restaurant of the Week – Ávila Arepa

Take your taste buds to Venezuela, no passport required. Ávila Arepa (ÁA) is a one-of-a-kind urban casual, Latin restaurant located on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton. Inspired by the popular and traditional Venezuelan arepas—a popular and traditional Venezuelan corn-based bun, filled with toppings such as beef, chicken, pork, cheese and avocado—Ávila Arepa gives you unpretentious, authentic food stuffed with love.

Owner Rolando “El Jefe” Sandrea, a former chemical engineer, has turned his kitchen into a personal lab where he experiments with traditional recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, making their way to him. He takes these recipes and makes them his own while preserving the Venezuelan time-honoured culinary roots and tastes.

Embark on a delicious arepa journey and fill your taste buds with the most traditional Venezuelan flavours at Ávila Arepa!

Why Big Food Tours

Our Partners

It doesn’t matter if you are a tourist, frequent visitor to Edmonton, or born and raised Edmontonian; no matter what your status, there are always unique and untold truths and stories that come from food. While you may be restaurant savvy and enjoy some of Alberta’s best food accredited to your own explorations and taste, there’s nothing quite like experiencing a day of multiple curated meals in different environments. Locals taking food tours in their own city often say, “I’ve lived in this city my whole life and walked away with more information than I’ve ever had before.”
